On this occasion, MEGA Tech had the honor of interviewing Mr. Kawee Boonsuwan, General Manager of Mitutoyo (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to gain deep insights into the vision behind this major investment—a move that reflects the company’s commitment to elevating its service capabilities in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Driven by Growth, Built for the Future

Mr. Kawee revealed that the Chonburi branch was established in 2002 with a core team of just five employees. Its primary mission was to support Japanese automotive parts manufacturers investing in Thailand. Following the government’s concrete push for the EEC initiative, industrial investments surged, leading to rapid expansion of Mitutoyo’s customer base across automotive, electronics, medical devices, and high-tech sectors.
This exponential growth meant the former facility could no longer adequately accommodate customers or display the full suite of solutions. Meanwhile, the workforce grew from 5 to over 20 employees. This prompted the investment in a new office, designed to optimize service efficiency and enhance the workplace environment.
A key highlight of the new facility is the Solution Center, which has expanded 2.5 times in size, while the office space has more than doubled to accommodate a future team of up to 40 employees. The design features an open, airy, and comfortable layout that fosters collaboration and creativity, complete with large meeting rooms fully equipped for technical training and events.
The new building was retrofitted from an existing warehouse structure, creatively adding a second floor for office space and conference facilities to maximize spatial efficiency.

Integrated Solution Center Showcases Advanced Measurement Technologies for Seven Key Industries
At the heart of Mitutoyo’s new headquarters is its state-of-the-art Solution Center, designed to demonstrate the company’s latest metrology technologies, automation solutions, and quality inspection systems. The facility serves as a comprehensive technology hub, offering practical solutions tailored to the evolving requirements of seven major manufacturing industries.
1. Automotive & EV
Showcasing inspection technologies for automotive and electric vehicle components. Featured solutions include Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), roundness measuring machines, optical measurement systems, and hardness testers tailored for inspecting shafts, gear sets, sensors, and high-precision parts.
2. Coordinate Measuring Machine with Automation
Demonstrating inline automated metrology. The CMM communicates seamlessly with conveyor and automation systems to sort pass/fail parts automatically. This supports smart factory ecosystems by flawlessly feeding data into subsequent manufacturing processes.
3. Electronics & PCB
Presenting non-contact and vision measurement technologies for inspecting PCBs, IC chips, and miniature electronic components. The CNC vision Measuring systems offer rapid and high-precision inspection. The display also includes diverse measuring instruments, ranging from large-scale micrometers for subsea oil pipelines to standard hand tools featuring international calibration compliance.
4. Vision Measuring Machine with Automation
Featuring an automated part-loading system integrated with a vision measuring machine—ideal for high-resolution inspection of micro-components. Operators simply place workpieces on a dedicated tray; the system automatically reads the workpiece’s QR code, executes the corresponding program, and performs the entire inspection autonomously, minimizing cycle times and boosting efficiency.
5. Industrial Solution
Exhibiting smart manufacturing integration among measuring instruments, robotic arms, and CNC machining centers. Interconnected devices communicate and exchange data in real time to perform automated quality inspection and sorting, with future compatibility for automated rework processes.
6. Medical Device
Delivering advanced metrology solutions for the medical device industry, complemented by custom jig and fixture design and manufacturing services utilizing 3D printing technology , enabling efficient inspection of complex geometries and high-precision medical components.
7. Aerospace
Spotlighting the 5-axis measurement probe (REVO) for efficient surface scanning of complex 3D components. The segment also features aircraft engine component inspection systems and material testing equipment designed to comply with rigorous aerospace quality standards.

Human-Centric Workplace: Enhancing Efficiency and Well-being
Beyond industrial metrology, Mitutoyo prioritizes its workforce by adopting a Human-Centric Workplace Design that balances operational efficiency with employee well-being.
A central architectural highlight is the open-atrium central staircase integrated with an active air ventilation and fresh-air replenishment system, effectively dissipating heat and improving indoor air circulation. Workstations are strategically positioned to maximize natural light and outdoor views, creating a brighter and more inspiring workplace that enhances both employee comfort and productivity
Concluding the interview, Mr. Kawee emphasized that the new headquarters was shaped by the collective input of employees across all departments.
“We wanted to create a space that meets the needs of our operations, our customer service, and our long-term organizational growth, making it a workplace everyone can be proud of.”
This major investment underscores Mitutoyo’s dedication to elevating metrology technology and quality solutions for Thailand’s industrial sector. It stands ready to accelerate the transition toward smart manufacturing and sharpen the competitive edge of Thai enterprises in the era of Industry 4.0 and future manufacturing.
